Anniversary Week

June 18th was our first anniversary. I still remember that day. I was seated on the table at 5pm. The basement section of the restaurant when i heard the klop klop klop of her open toed, high heeled shoes as she came down the stairs. My back was to the stairs and i knew it was her. Then they went back up, before coming back down in 15 minutes. She came up straight to me and said...
Hi,...
and i said...
Hello.
We had to switch tables coz some other two ladies sat in the same table waiting for their friends. She picked up my cup of tea with the saucer. Boy, was she nervous. She fumbled and almost dropped it. I insisted, lemme carry it, but in her strong willed way, she insisted on carrying it.
So we moved to another 2 person table.
First thing, i told her, i have something for you. I have learn't from God to always carry a gift when going to visit someone. That is one way of blessing people...
(..I will bless you and you shall be a blessing...Gen 12.2)
Let the blessing be seen. She closed her eyes in some anticipation that really puzzled me. I don't like surprises, she said. I couldn't understand what she expected from me. So i whipped out the ladies wallet, a nice black one i had chosen to match anything in her wardrobe. In any case, i had observed her long enough to have a semblance of her style - sleek, chic, elegant in a conservative manner, a style innately hers, an extension of her playful, open and ever hopeful personality, not like the attention getting, self imposed styles women have adopted. Where the tightest jeans are wrapped around the widest bums, revealing the 'crack of dawn' as Caroline Mutoko once put it. The slapstick application of screaming colors and mish mash of makeup add a horrifying effect but they think they are looking hot. (Yeah, hot Like hell me thinks!). It is very sad.
Later, she tells me that she thought it was an engagement ring. Until the exchange of words about who was to carry the tea,That was the longest conversation we had had together. Our meeting was honestly strange (i choose that word for the benefit of those who might think us spooky) but i think it is very romantic. We met in a dream, in the very presence of God, because he is the one who 'spoke us together'.
The evening progressed and we had a tea and snack, rehashed our pasts, just got comfy. Actually, we cut out all the 'dreamy eyes' stuff and jumped right into the thick of things. we discovered we had the same exact experiences. The interesting thing, we both had come to the point of total surrender to God. I was going to accept His choice and nothing else. I had gotten to the point of distrusting all my choices in romantic relationships and contemplating complete bachelor hood.
Then God stepped in and boy! Hallelujah! HE IS GOD!
Therefore, i glorify God today and celebrate this anniversary praising His Holy Name.
Thank you Daddy!
